Kitchen Remodeling in Highlands Ranch
A kitchen is the most disruptive room in the house to renovate and the one people regret rushing. It’s also the room where the difference between a good contractor and a cheap one shows up fastest — in how the cabinet runs meet the walls, whether the tile lines up across the range, and whether the job finished when someone said it would.
We handle kitchen remodels across Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Littleton, Centennial, Parker, Castle Rock and across the Denver Metro and the Front Range, for homeowners staying put and for sellers getting a house ready to list.

What’s usually in a kitchen remodel
Cabinetry. New cabinets, refacing, or keeping the boxes and replacing doors and drawer fronts. Which one makes sense depends on the condition of what’s there — we’ll tell you honestly if your existing boxes are worth keeping, because sometimes they are.
Countertops. Quartz, granite, butcher block, solid surface. Templating happens after demo, once we can see the actual conditions, which is why the countertop date is usually the one that moves.
Tile and backsplash. Layout matters more than material here. We set out the run before we cut anything so the pattern lands where it should behind the range and around the outlets.
Lighting and electrical. Recessed cans, under-cabinet, pendants over an island, adding circuits for a new range or microwave. Anything touching the panel goes to a licensed electrician.
Plumbing. Sink and faucet swaps, moving a sink within reason, dishwasher and disposal. Relocating drain lines is a bigger job than it sounds and we’ll say so before you commit to a layout that requires it.
Flooring, trim and paint. The finish work that makes the rest read as intentional.
How a kitchen job actually runs
We walk the kitchen with you and write an itemized scope — what’s included, what’s assumed, and what’s specifically excluded. You’ll know what happens if we open a wall and find something.
Selections come next. Cabinets and countertops carry the longest lead times, so those get locked early; you can decide on hardware and paint later without holding up the schedule.
Then demo, rough-in, inspection where required, cabinets, template, countertops, tile, finish, punch list. There’s a gap between template and countertop install that no contractor can compress — usually a couple of weeks — and we plan the rest of the work around it rather than leaving you without a kitchen the whole time.
What moves the price
Honest list, because these are the things that surprise people:
- Layout changes. Keeping the sink and range where they are is dramatically cheaper than moving them. Moving a sink means moving a drain.
- What’s behind the walls. Older Highlands Ranch and Littleton homes turn up things worth fixing while they’re open.
- Cabinet grade. The single biggest line item, and the one with the widest range.
- Whether the ceiling or soffits change. Removing a soffit often means relocating ducting or wiring.
We give you a written scope with an estimate confidence level on it. If something genuinely can’t be priced until demo, we say that up front and carry it as a range rather than pretending to a number we can’t stand behind.
Kitchen remodeling in Highlands Ranch
Brimie Contractors is based in Highlands Ranch, and kitchens are some of the most common projects we price here. Many Highlands Ranch homes still have their original builder kitchens, and the usual job is new or refaced cabinets, quartz counters, a tile backsplash, better lighting and sometimes opening up the layout. Our Highlands Ranch whole-home renovation included a new kitchen with white flat-panel cabinets, leathered quartz counters, a stone slab backsplash, a dark-stained island and a built-in coffee bar.
Highlands Ranch is unincorporated Douglas County, so kitchen work that moves plumbing, adds circuits or takes out a wall is permitted through the Douglas County Building Division. Interior kitchen work generally doesn’t need Highlands Ranch Community Association approval, but anything that changes the outside of the house can. We check before we start. More about our work in Highlands Ranch.
We also remodel kitchens in Lone Tree, Littleton (see our Littleton kitchen and lighted bar niche), Centennial and Parker.
Common questions
Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel in Highlands Ranch?
It depends on the scope. Replacing cabinets and counters in the same layout usually doesn’t need one. Moving plumbing, adding electrical circuits or removing a wall does, and in Highlands Ranch that permit comes from Douglas County. Your estimate says up front whether one is needed, and we handle the submittal and inspections.
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
It depends on the scope and the cabinets. Cabinet lead time is often the longest wait, so we order early and schedule demolition around delivery. Your written estimate includes a schedule for your specific project.
Can we live in the house during the remodel?
Usually, yes. We protect floors and seal off the work area for dust, and we’ll talk through how you’ll handle meals while the kitchen is out of service.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost?
It depends on cabinets, counters, whether the layout changes and the finish level. We measure on site and give you a written, itemized estimate, so you can see what each part costs before you decide.
